Asus Eee Pad Slider may be released in September
16 August 2011 – Asus' Eee Pad Slider maybe getting a launch date as well as pricing for the tablet. According to Netbook Italia, the device is expected to be released in a number of countries in September.
Like its namesake, there is a slide-out QWERTY keyboard which props up the 10.1-inch LED damage-resistant Gorilla Glass display (1280 x 800), so you won't need to carry around an extra keyboard. That slide-out does mean you will be hefting around a 970 gram device.
There’s more, it comes a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 1.2-megapixel front facing camera, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, 16GB or 32GB internal memory with microSD reader and a HDMI-out. It is powered by the Nvidia Tegra 2 1GHz dual core processor, and is equipped with Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) with a promised upgrade to Android 3.2.
As for the pricing, the tablet is reportedly available for at 479 Euros (estimated RM2065) and 599 Euros (estimated RM2580) for the 16GB and 32GB models respectively. Asus also threw in one year of 'unlimited ASUS Storage' for storing your data in the cloud. Hopefully, we'll get a more concrete release date and pricing when September rolls around.
